Fall 2002 Newsletter

Gillian Bowen ‘80, moved to Connecticut after living and working in NYC for the past ten years. She and her husband have three children. Sandy Lyons ‘81, is living in Connecticut. She reports that her older sister Suzy is married to Ronnie Butterworth and has two children. Her younger sister Laura is married and living in New York. All are graduates of BHS. Michele (Breen) O’Connor ‘81, reports that she, her husband and daughter Elle recently celebrated the birth of son Christopher-Paul. Vicki Golburgh ‘81, purchased a new thoroughbred colt last October named “Kick Start my Heart.” She reports that he won four blue ribbons at his first show in July, and two blue ribbons at his second show this September. Her welsh cob, “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” was champion five times throughout the summer circuit. Michelle Close ‘82, is proud to announce the birth of her son Cooper Lantz Close Desmond. He is the baby brother of Maya Olivia, 2 years old.

Paul Senecal ‘80, is still living and working in Stamford, CT. Brigitte McNally ‘80, currently owns and operates Mermaids + Flowzone Cafe on Nantasket Beach. It is a boutique and cafe, offering such things as gift items, jewelry, clothing, as well as sandwiches, frozen fresh fruit drinks, and fresh salads. Elizabeth (Betsy) Shearer ‘80, is living in Brookline, MA. Vicki Golburgh ‘81, continues to train and ride her hunter-jumper horses. She recently won a second place equitation medal with her Welsh Cob Section B named “Summer N’ Smoke”. Her Dutch Warmblood, “Faster Pussycat” was Champion Special Hunter at Equine Success in June 2001. Lee Taylor ‘82, and his wife of nine years, Cheryl, have 2 lovely children. They have been living in Westfield, NJ for the past 8 years. Lee is a Senior Vice-President at Prebon Yamane in the Energy Commodities division. Kristin Hoffmeister ‘84, completed her MS in Taxation at Golden Gate University. She lives in San Francisco. Caroline Silber Lavender ‘85, and her husband Mark have lived in Atlanta for 10 years. They have 2 children, Nathan and Erica, and are expecting their third in January. Nina Childs Johnson ‘86, lives in St. Paul, MN with her husband Kenneth and son Zachary. She is a custom furniture maker with an interest in sustainably harvested hardwoods. Kudos to Nina for working to preserve our environment!! Taz Monique Brown ‘87, is living and loving Charlotte, NC.

Paul Senecal Jr. '80, is working in Stamford, CT as vice president and general manager for a large building maintenance company. Elizabeth Shearer '80, is still living in Brookline and has been working for the State of Massachusetts for 18 years. She loves to travel and enjoys e-mailing. William "Billy" Kirrane '81, passed away at home on June 7, 2000. He was the former sports equipment manager for Boston University. He is survived by his parents, Ed '53 and Ann Kirrane, and by his three sisters, Deborah, Shelley '82, and Paula. Our condolences to his family and friends. Tiffany Diem Trang Bui-Rothman '81, is living in Manhattan with her husband Robert and new baby daughter, Elisabeth. Nitanya (Hampton) Andrews '83, has been married for 10 years. She has one son, Clay, age 3. She completed law school and is working as an attorney in Boston. David Zuckerman '89, just finished his second year owning and running an organic vegetable farm. He is also up for re-election to the Vermont legislature where he is active in opposition to genetically engineered foods.




 
Spring 2000 Newsletter

Danielle Pletka '80, is married and has three children. She works for the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. Sandra (MacDonald) Lyons '81, is still living in Connecticut with husband Bob and twins Sarah and Matthew. She recently started a business with a friend making custom-designed gifts, crafts and party favors. Michelle Close '82, and her husband Kevin Desmond returned to the Bay Area after living in South America for three years. Their first child, Maya Olivia was born August 31, 1999 and they plan a move to Providence, RI this summer. Abby Gold '82, is living in Minnesota where she is a lecturer and public health nutrition researcher at North Dakota State University. She has a four-year-old son and husband David Sosrenson is an artist and professor. Susan Figelman '83, heads enforcement for the Mass. Bureau of Resource Protection. She lives in Melrose with her husband, Gary Horwitz '81, and daughter Jessica, 2. Gary opened his own law practice in 1989 and teaches at Newbury College. Jacqueline Drain Cronin '83, is teaching Spanish and coaching lacrosse at the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham. She just returned from Chile where she lived and worked in an orphanage for one month with some of her students. She would love to hear from friends at Jacqueline_Cronin@nobles.edu. Kyra (Kitt) Zorn '83, got married in March. Lisa Lanzkron-Tamarazo '84, graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 1990 with a degree in Vocal Performance and has been doing the audition circuit ever since. She has done several recitals in New York and hopes to do another this winter. She is now pregnant with her first child and is teaching voice and piano at a small music school. Karen Nichols '86, is currently living in Geneseo, NY where she teaches geography at the State University of New York College.




 
Fall 1999 Newsletter

Elizabeth Shearer '80, has worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the past 18 years. She traveled to California this summer and reports that she is active in several organizations. Paul Senecal '80, is living in Stamford, CT, and New York City. He was promoted to VP of the New England region for Collin Service, a building services company. Tiffany Diem-Trang (Bui) Rothman '81, had a baby girl July 10, 1999. Her name is Elisabeth Bui Rothman. Vicki Golburgh '81, graduated from Simmons College with a degree in biology and an MAT in science education. She is currently teaching eighth grade in Franklin, MA. Vicki was the 1998 recipient of the Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education, a national award given in conjunction with the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. When not teaching, she spends her time training her show hunter, Dr. Feelgood, a five-year-old thoroughbred Welsh. William Kirrane '81 and Shelly Kirrane '82, report that four generations of Kirranes have attended Heath School! Abby Gold '82, lives in Moorhead, MN, and works as a public health nutrition researcher and lecturer at North Dakota State University. Her son Drew is three and her husband David Swenson is an art professor. Elizabeth (Betsy Crawford) Ragan '82, has been in Allentown, PA, for nearly three years, where her husband Bill is pastor of Hope UCC. They have three children, Jimmy, 5; Sarah 4; and Joseph, 1. Betsy enjoys singing with a group at Lehigh University, plays "fantasy baseball" on the Net with friends and family, and enjoys her children. She and her husband celebrated their 12th anniversary by moving into their first house! Sarah Elizabeth (Beth Anderson) Whitcomb '83, married Jonathan Whitcomb in 1996. Their first child, Samuel Ezekiel was born September 20, 1998. Charles Papert '83, is living and working in Hollywood as a cameraman in the film industry. His most recent credit to date is the new Fox series "Action." Tanvir Hussain '84, moved back to Brookline after seven years in New Jersey. He joined Kenan Systems in Cambridge after graduating from HBS last year. Christopher Yoder '84, reports that his farm, VanGuarden (in Dover, MA) has been certified organic by the Northeast Organic Farming Association for seven years. For the past five years, the firm has marketed directly to customers as a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Kristen Hunter '88, married Philip Paik '87 in May 1998. Members of the wedding party included Karen Paik '90, James Paik '88, Seung Jae Lee '86. In attendance were Diana Lee '88, Lyla Yee '88, Alice Yee '89 and David '71 and Elise Fox '73. Melanie Alexander '89, now teaches English at BHS and coaches volleyball. Jennifer Anderson '89, spent this summer in Germany with fiancée Dino. They planned an autumn wedding in the U.S. and will return to Bali, Indonesia, where they have purchased land and plan to build a home.

Paul Senecal '80, is living in Stamford, CT, managing a service company. Edward T. Lee '80, is a systems analyst at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Michele (Breen) O'Connor '81, got married in 1992 to Paul O'Connor of Randolph, MA and the couple welcomed daughter Gabrielle in June 1998. Lucia Peabody '81, just had a baby girl, Sofia Holden Peabody Waters. She's planning to move back to Massachusetts this year. Renee (Spitzer) Barnhizer '83, reports that her son Jeremy was born July 26, 1997. Renee graduated from medical school in Bethesda, MD last May. David Zuckerman '89 was re-elected to the Vermont House of Representatives this past November. He is starting an organic vegetable garden this year.

Laura Roseman '80, is a pediatrician practicing in Maryland. She and her husband Jeff enjoy raising their son, Jared Brett, age 2 1/2. Sandra (Macdonald) Lyons '81, moved to Connecticut in 1997 with her husband Bob and twins Sarah and Matthew. She enjoys working as a full-time, at-home mom. Lisa (Boyer) Fink '81, left her job as an FBI agent in San Francisco to attend UC Davis Veterinary School. She is married to Anthony Fink, a Sacramento County firefighter. Jessica Krant '81, is living in Brookline with her four-year-old son. Evan Banks '82, and his wife Stacy reside in Sharon, MA with their two children, Jennifer and Adam. Evan works for Copley Pharmaceutical and Stacy is a dental hygienist in Brookline. Rhonda Turner '84, is happily living in Amherst, MA as a registered nurse. She is currently pursuing a dual Masters in Nursing and Public Health and is ultimately striving for a doctorate in Public Health. She also is publishing literature and consulting on women's health care reform. Margot Duzak '85, is living in Brighton, MA. Shelley (Richmond) Joseph '85, recently married Scott Joseph. They currently live in Brookline. Shelley is an assistant Attorney General. Cheryl Dubin '86, received an MBA from Babson College and is currently the director of Brokerage Product Development at Fidelity Investments. Karen Nichols '86, is finishing her doctorate in geography at Rutgers University and beginning a full-time position at SUNY Geneseo in September of 1998. We wish her the best!





Spring 1998 Newsletter

Maurya Sullivan '80 married Joel Kadis '79 this past July. Maurya is currently in-house counsel at Nextel Communications. Her husband Joel is an asset manager for Finard & Company, a real estate services company. Maurya reports that Sally Sass '80, Jim Kaplan '79, Chuck Kadis '76 and Larry Deraney '75 were at the wedding. Michael Elcock '81 was married in April 1990. He has two sons, Conor and Michael Jr. Sandra (Macdonald) Lyons '81 married Robert Lyons in 1992. She gavebirth to twins, Sarah and Matthew, in August 1997. Christina Konczeski '85 lives in Florida with her son Cody. She works in marketing for insurance professionals. Nancy (Berkowitz) Kaplan '85 and her husband Rob recently welcomed their son Jacob to the world. Nancy, a private school administrator, lives in Annapolis, MD. Nicole (Eckstein) Gage '86 received a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 and is currently practicing law at Fish & Richardson PC in Boston. Philip Paik '87, James Paik '88 and Karen Paik '90 are joint owners of J.P. Seafood Cafe, a retail seafood market and Korean-Japanese restaurant located in Jamaica Plain, MA. Seung Jae Lee '86, is a licensed acupuncturist and co-owner of Full Spectrum Healing Arts in Dover, MA. He is the father of a one-year-old son. Danzy Senna '88 recently published her first book, "Caucasia." Newsweek magazine praised it as "a remarkable first novel."





Fall 1997 Newsletter

Pamela (Hunt) Hassett, '81, gave birth to her daughter, Heather in September 1995. Cybel Monson, '87, is attending business school in Minneapolis and will receive an MBA in June 1998. Anne D. Williams, '88, completed an MPA from University of Pittsburgh in 1995. She is currently the assistant township manager for Franconia, PA.
