Dr. Stuart Cushner ‘71, and his wife Sharon reside in Norton, MA. He is an Orthodontist in Taunton, MA. Mary Schroeder ‘72, is the executive director for Life Care Centers of America. She lives in Plymouth, MA. Ken Brine ‘72, is living in Sharon with his wife Rita and their two sons. He is currently self employed as a manufacturer’s representative selling retail store fixtures. Steven Finkel ‘74, is well and living in Rocky Hills, CT. Robert Stern ‘75, is a Vice President with Putnam Investments and resides in Framingham with wife Vanessa and two sons. Chris Browne ‘76, was the director of the Reagan National Airport during the 9/11 crisis. We apologize for the misspelling of his name in the last alumni news. Adam Altman, MD ‘76, is an eye surgeon in Reading, PA specializing in cornea transplantation and LASIK. He lives with his wife Robin and their two boys. Karen Smith Green is living in Chestnut Hill, MA. Carol Bailey-Sumber ‘78, and her husband Howard are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Kayleigh Carol Sumber, born on February 10, 2002.

Davis Leonard Prentiss ‘71, has been teaching philosophy at Rhode Island College and at URI since 1986. He will also complete his PhD in Philosophy from Brown. Dr. Rhonda Friedman ‘71, is a general dentist in Kenmore Square, Boston, MA. She is the proud mother of an 11 year old boy. She welcomes email at drmom23@mediaone.net Maureen Brothers Gibbons ‘71, is still living in sunny San Diego, working in security at a large hotel. Ken Brine ‘72, and wife Rita live in Sharon with sons Corey and Lee. Rita is a preschool teacher and Ken sells retail store fixtures. Joseph Benton ‘73, plans to visit the Boston area in June for the birth of twins to his brother Jay Benton ‘79 and wife Vivian. Elena Lepore Oxford ‘73, is married with one so. She is employed as a Real Estate Lending Executive. She recently built a home in Medfield, MA and would love to hear from classmates. Lauren Lerner ‘74, is enjoying Ft Lauderdale with her husband and 2 children. She continues to practice medicine in the specialty of physical rehabilitation. Lisa Jacobson Roby ‘74, became engaged to be married to Daniel Stork. She lives in Florida. Roger Lipson ‘77, has been living in NYC since 1980 as a musician. He most recently played lead guitar in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He and his wife Marlene are expecting their their first child. Rick Trilling ‘75, is a partner at Lemelman and Trilling in Boston. He will begin teaching at Boston University Law school this year. He lives in Sharon with wife Beth and daughter Victoria. Steven Bernson ‘78, has been living in southern California since 1993. He is President/CEO of Intermedia West, Inc., an internet company. He was recently married to Lorri Berman, VP of Licensing at Paramount Pictures. Anne Goldberg ‘79, is living in San Fransisco. she has lived in California since 1983. She works in the bakery business. Eileen Hughes ‘79, has been working at WGBH - the public TV station in Boston, for five years. Both of the shows she works on have been nominated for daytime Emmy awards!

Jim Polonsky '70, is living in New Jersey is and working as a financial consultant at Merrill Lynch. He has two children, Lee, 12 and Natalie, 9. Jeffrey Katz '70, is married to Michelle Needlema Katz. Their daughter Joy is at at UVM and daughter Fallen is at Newton South High School. Jeffrey is currently in real estate development and management in Brookline and Cambridge. Dawn (Hewins) Kelly '73, is living in New York City. She asks that we make a special mention of classmate Kenny Rabinovitz, who died of AIDS in January 1992. Mark Porter '74, just completed his first year as vice president of Youth and Family Services at the YMCA in Sarasota, FL. Alexis, Rachel and Mark are doing well. Lise (Greenfield) Shanahan '74, left sunny California for the scorching Houston, Texas area along with her husband Bill, two kids, two dogs and two pet rats. Debbie (Korisky) Prog '74, is living in Huntington Beach, CA with her husband and two-year-old daughter, Sharon Anna. Her sister Vickie (Korisky) Boshnack '73 lives in the next town over. Daniel Greenfield '76, is living in Seattle, WA. He met Scott McFarland '74, an old lacrosse teammate, who has opened a very successful restaurant called the Sandpoint Grill in the Seattle area. David Gordon '77, has moved back to Brookline with his wife Judy and their two sons Lucas and Seth after 13 years in Florida. Seth goes to Runkle and Lucas goes to BHS. Susan (Fertig) Halpert '78, has been appointed communications manager at Parmenter VNA & Community Care in Wayland. She lives in Wayland with her husband Mitch and their two children, Douglas and Meredith. Laura (Tofias) Silver '78, has been married to husband Jeffrey for 15 years. They have three children - Rachel, Michelle and Joshua. Jeffrey is a physician at Beth Israel/Deaconess Hospital. Ken Segal '78, lives in Maryland with his wife Kathy and their three children. Ken works for NASA and has recently been assigned to NASA's Next Generation Space Telescope as the composite materials technologist. Lynn Leonardo '79 has been working at the Colonnade Hotel as an accountant for the past four years. She enjoys baseball games and rock concerts with her daughter Jessica, now 12. Cathy Shelburne '79, recently moved back to New England to be closer to her family.




 
Spring 2000 Newsletter

Jeffrey Katz '70, has two daughters, ages15 and 17. His wife Michelle works at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He continues developing retail, offices and hotels in Boston. Paul Doyle '70, was elected vice president of Worldwide Operations for C+S Energy in 1999. He lives in Spring, Texas, with his wife Melissa, son CJ and daughter Kelcey. Amy (Winthrop) Silverman '70, will move to Houston, Texas, in July with her husband Paul. Paul is chief of abdominal imaging at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Their daughter Rebecca will be a junior in high school and their son Zack will be a freshman at Duke University. Richard James Peck '71, is living the "good life' in Southern California. He is a second vice president for Solomon Smith Barney in Beverly Hills. He lives overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Pacific Palisades. Richard expresses that he is forever grateful for his BHS educational experience. Mark Chalpin '73, has a successful law practice out of his home in Silver Spring, MD. He says the 25th BHS reunion was "magical" and a great reminder of what a wonderful place Brookline was to grow up in. Jan Fleischman '73, married Mark Politi in July 1999 on the island of Kauai. Jan and Mark are living in the LA area and she would love to hear from classmates. Caleb Paul Stewart '75, is vice president of Randolph Associates, Inc. in Cambridge, MA. Jane Slater '75, and her "beautiful and amazing" daughter Ariana, age 13, are living in Oregon. Jane is a parole/probation officer. She reported that brother Jesse Slater '74, is living in Los Angeles with his wife and two children, and their mother Irma (Dutch) Slavin '48 is also living in the LA area. Lauren (Shuman) Walter '75, is the manager of a bed & breakfast reservation service in Brookline called Greater Boston Hospitality. She and her husband Carl live in Watertown with their daughter Angela, a junior at Brimmer and May. Robert Stern '75, is a senior commodity manager for FleetBoston at their world headquarters in Boston. Bob and his wife Vanessa live in Framingham with their sons Matthew and David. Richard B. Mitchell '76, reports that his son Marcus Elliot was born June 1998. He's a stay-at-home dad and enjoys watching Marcus and Morgan (5) grow up! Karen and Bruce Green '76, report that their son Ben just turned 16 and got his learner's permit to drive. Their daughter Sarah is a freshman at Newton North and is a co-editor of the freshman yearbook. Joseph Ziskend '77, relocated to Georgia after spending ten years in the Marshall Islands. He and his wife Pam have three children and he is a staff software engineer. Jo-Louise Allen '78, has two sons, Daniel, 10 and Samuel, 3. She has been married to her husband Jack Fidler for 15 years and she leads a support group for parents and professionals interested in sensory integration disorders. Marsha (Segelman) Solomon '79, is married to Hal Soloman who is a dentist in Maplewood, NJ. They have two children. Marsha is an aerobics instructor.




 
Fall 1999 Newsletter

Amy (Winthrop) Silverman '70, and her husband Paul will be moving to Houston where Paul will be chief of abdominal imaging at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Robin (Adelson) Little '70, lives and works in Ann Arbor, MI. She is the alumni officer at the UM School of Social Work. Her oldest son started at University of Wisconsin this fall. Ted Shapiro '70, was honored to receive the distinguished service award for 1998 presented at the joint Oakridge/Knoxville meeting by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. Jo Anne (Segall) Mount '70, is still alive and well in Southern California. Jennifer (Parkins) McKinnon '71, is divorced and the proud mother of a 23-year-old daughter. She reports that life is good! Reverend Roberta Williams '72, made her third trip to Israel and met other BHS grads. She is the pastor at St. John's United Methodist Church in Watertown, MA. Maelyn (Sigal) Arvedon '72, reports that son Andrew has completed his freshman year at West Roxbury High and daughter Amy is now in the 7th grade at Boston Latin Academy. She is a 1998 honoree in the International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women. Lauri Rakoff-Chertok '72, is married to Brian, lives in Beverly, MA, and has two sons: Ben, 16 and Zack, 11. She is creating fine-art collages after many years in fashion advertising in NYC. Deeya (Debbie Dobelle) Pavelle '73, has recently been named director of sales and marketing for the Business Journal of Southeastern Massachusetts. Dawn (Hewins) Kelly '73, and her husband Larry will be celebrating their 21st wedding anniversary. Larry will be producing a Boston Co. production of "A Couple of Blaguards" written by Frank and Malachy McCourt. Their daughter Jessica will be graduating from 6th grade at Hunter College Elementary School. Their daughter Jacqueline is in second grade. Dawn is no longer teaching but is an educational consultant. Deborah Ann (Silton) Friedman '74, is living in lovely Durham, NC. Until recently, she owned a marketing firm. She reports that she is happily married (second marriage) to a wonderful man and has a one-year-old son. Maria (Jaffe) Magner '74, has been living in the DC area for the past 15 years with husband William and sons Tate, 13 and Quinn, 10. She works as the assistant director of development for a private boys school in the Bethesda, MD, area. Pat Libby '75, just graduated with a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from MIT and is moving to San Diego with her husband Mike Eichler. She reports that Beth Rosenberg '75, is living in Somerville and is an assistant professor at Tufts Medical School. Michele (Grusby) Friedler '75, is a realtor at Hammond Real Estate in Chestnut Hill. She recently celebrated her 10th anniversary with her husband Bill, a practicing attorney in Boston. Their three children, Evan, Haley and Drew attend Baker School. Larry Derany '75, is living in Wellesley with his wife Rose and 2two-year-old daughter Jessica. He is employed at Elron Software in Burlington, MA as VP of engineering and product marketing. Steven Lipsitt '76, was just appointed music director of the Boston Classical Orchestra, a professional chamber orchestra that plays five weekends in Fanueuil Hall. Nick Maimonis '76, reports that he, his wife Joanne and two-year-old son, Nicholas, recently moved to Braintree where there is plenty of yard work Liz (Carmona) Tassinari '77, is living in Melrose, MA. Sheila (Harrington) Falvey '77, is currently working at General Electric in Minnesota. She has two children, Cameron and Hannah and would love to hear from classmates from '77. Susan (Fertig) Halpert '78, has been named assistant director of JCC Camp Kingswood in Bridgton, Maine. She has two children, Douglas, 9 and Meredith, 6. Al Grusby '78, received his MBA from Boston University. He is a mechanical engineer working for Analog Devices. Anne Goldberg '78, has lived in the San Francisco area since 1983. She has been happily married to Oliver Pflug for 10 years. Anne runs the bakery business for II Fornaio, an Italian restaurant. Jeffrey Janis '78, was recently hired as the western regional director for the U.S. Holocaust Memorial offices in Los Angeles. Carole Ann (Evans) Baer '78, wishes to thank Susan Ferrig Halpert, Diane Laffey Babigian, Mary Beth Seibel Calnan and Bella Wong for making their recent reunion such a success! Thanks to Mel Wolf, too! Wayne Lebeaux '79, was the director of travel for the Boston Celtics for 18 years. He is now on tour as a road manager for Bruce Springstein and the E Street Band. Maeve Cullinane '79, lives and teaches in Rochester, NY, with husband Stephen Shultz '80 (a family physician), and their two children, Benjamin, 10 and Sarah, 1. Dr. Paul Polishuk '79, is practicing urology in San Diego. He and his wife Marjorie report that their daughter Kimberly just turned two.





Spring 1999 Newsletter

Steven C. Douglas '70, was elected General Sessions Court Judge for Cumberland Courts in Tennessee last year. He recently presided over the nationally publicized hearing of the State of Tennessee versus Byron (Low Tax) Looper on a criminal charge of killing his political opponent, State Senator Tommy Burks. Chris Higgins '70, is still at Baystate Medical Center (finishing his 21st year) as program director of the Cardiac Rehab/Interventional Wellness program. Daughter Kate is at Brandeis and son Chris is at New Hampshire College. Jeffrey Katz '70, reports that after 25 years in food, beverage and advertising, he has moved his office home and is busy developing and acquiring real estate in Brookline. He says he's never been so happy and grateful! Donna (Maginnis) Dole '74, lives with her daughter Jennifer in Middleboro, MA. She is working at Fidelity Investments in Boston and would love to hear from classmates at ddole@tmlp.com. Lise (Greenfield) Shanahan '74, is living in southern California, north of San Diego. "Are there any BHS alums nearby?" she asks. Her husband is working in the biotech industry and they have two children: Erin, 8 and Colin, 6 and a dog. Barbara Wolf Jablow '74, has been appointed an associate professor of medicine at Brown University. She has a busy family practice in Providence and Pawtucket, is married to Stephen Jablow, and has three children. Maria (Messitt) Mannix '74, lives in Dover, Mass., with her husband John, a civil engineer and their two daughters, Erin, 8 and Carolyn, 6. Maria is an attorney and at-home mom at present, planning to return to work soon. She'd love to hear from old high school friends, especially SWS and concert choir members. She's looking forward to the reunion this November (check reunion notes page for more info!). Merle Adelman '76 is still traveling around the country for Hewlett-Packard. Merle, who has a nephew at the Runkle School, reports that her sister Margie Adelman '78, had a terrific time at her 20th BHS reunion. Karen (Smith) '76 and Bruce Green '76, send their regards to all. Bruce was at last year's Thanksgiving Game, splitting his loyalties between Newton North (his son is in the band) and Brookine High. Final score: Newton 35, BHS 6. At the game, Bruce had the chance to chat with BHS headmaster Bob Weintraub and classmates Fred Greene '76 and Bob Mahon '76. Eric Boyer '77, married Sofia Hakansson of Sweden on Sept. 8, 1998. He is a Webmaster and owns Boston Apartments.com. David Bret Chalpin '78, reports that he and his wife had a great time at his recent BHS 20th reunion. David, who is practicing diagnostic radiology in the New Orleans area, is the proud father of Bret Alexander, born last March.

Barry Jules Berman '70, is an ob-gyn living in Los Angeles. He is married to Susan, a clinical psychologist and they have two children, Laura and Andy. Robin Adelson Little '70, is the alumni officer of the University of Michigan School of Social Work. She plans alumni events and writes/edits publications. James Curtin '70, has started his own firm: Enviro-Services Inc., which involves air and water sampling and analysis. He lives in Needham with his wife Nancy and their daughters Kate and Deirdre. Maureen (Brothers) Gibbons '71, has been living in San Diego for the last 13 years with her husband Brent. After 20 years in the apartment management business, she is now working in hotel security. She reports that she still runs into Karolyn Kirby '79, every now and then. James Kanter '72, Joel Kanter '68, Neal Kanter '70, Jimmy Kanter '72 and Laura Kanter '78 divide their time between Brookline and Mashpee. They send warm regards to friends and fellow alumni. Dawn Hewins-Kelly '73, and her husband Larry are raising their daughters Jessica and Jacqueline in NYC. She teaches pre-K at a Columbia affiliate school and her husband is producing a play. Her grandmother Emilie Nelson '27 is a BHS alum. Jan Fleischman '73, received a Masters in Nursing and nurse practitioner certification from UCLA in June 1998. Debbie (Korisky) Prog '74, is the director of education in Long Beach and living in Huntington Beach. CA. She reports that she lives near Vickie Korisky Boshnack '73, Wendie Woolf '73 and Caryn Foster Tomer '75. Lauren (Lipshutz) Lerner '74, is continuing with a busy medical practice and is the medical director of the brain injury and spinal cord injury program of a large rehabilitation hospital. She enjoys living in sunny Florida with her husband and two children. Marcy (Clebnik) Kornreich '74 and a committee from the Class of '74 are beginning plans for a 25th reunion in 1999. David Forman '75, celebrated his 40th birthday in February at a surprise party with BHS'ers Richard Warren, Julie Wolfe, Nancy Green '75, Jonathan Forman '70 and Russell Fryer '70. Dyanne (Fleischman) Drucker '76 is married and living in Diamond Bar, CA. She has a daughter, Sarah. Merle Adelman '76, reports that Alla Silber '76 had a new baby girl this year. Sophia joins Olivia, who is two years old. Dan Greenfield '76, and his wife Lucy had a new baby girl Olivia Delano Greenfield. Their first child, Madeleine Claire was born in November 1994. Bruce Green '76 and Karen (Smith) Green '76, are busy with work and their children, Sarah and Ben. David Gordon '77, has been living in Ocala, FL since 1987. He owns and operates a small jewelry store. He and his wife Judy have two children, Lucas and Seth. He coaches and competes in indoor in-line speed skating. Rev. Jennifer (Jones) Hightower '77, is married with two children. She is an ordained, licensed member of the clergy, pastoring revival deliverance in Mattapan, Boston and Bloomington, Indiana. Lew Schneider '79, has been married to Elizabeth since 1986. They have three sons Marty, Leo and Jake. He is currently working as a writer and producer on the CBS comedy "Everybody Loves Raymond".

Georgette Felszegi '70 just celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband Menahem Abraham, MD. They are living in Brookline. Jonathan Forman '70 is an internist working in Braintree, MA. He lives in Newton with his wife and three children. He still goes to the annual Brookline/Newton Thanksgiving Day football game-and he roots for Brookline! Rhonda Bloom '70 is a television production executive in Los Angeles for The Producers Entertainment Group. An alum of Wesleyan and USC, she lives in LA with her significant other, Olivia, an attorney. Bill Lerman '70 reports that his daughter Lori had her Bat Mitzvah in November. His youngest child, Jerry, turned four this year. David Robinson '71 is touring the country doing stand-up comedy. He reports that he is still single, but always looking (everywhere but Arkansas). Julie Gottlieb '71 is an education consultant for the State Department of Education in Connecticut. She has three children, Jeremy, Adam and Rachel. She would love to hear from classmates at GottliebJA@aol.com. Lisa J. Crowley '72 spent 13 years in the field of private investigation and security consulting. She now is a partner in "Streamline", an antique shop in Dorchester, MA. She has a husband, three iguanas, a cat and a bird. Judy (Yee) Connolly '73 is living in Palm Desert, CA with her husband Peter. They have two daughters and one son. She welcomes calls from visiting alumni at (760) 360-8829. Mark Porter '74 is living in Florida with Alexis and Rachel. He is the director of Kelly Hall, a juvenile justice treatment program. This program was recently recognized for its excellence by the Department of Juvenile Justice. Mel Stoler '74 is living with his wife and two sons in Brookline, where they added a third floor to the house he grew up in-that means another generation of Stolers going to Devotion School soon. Maury Fremont-Smith '74, is practicing pathology in the seacoast region of New Hampshire and Newburyport, MA. He has five children and coaches soccer every weekend. Marcy (Clebnik) Kornreich '74 is a freelance writer and editor. She is active in community service projects, as well as the BHS Alumni Association, where she serves as a member of the board of directors and newsletter editor. She and her husband Ken, director of Camp Young Judaea in New Hampshire, have three children, Rachel, Kayla and Ari, five months. Bruce Green '76 and Karen Green '76, have two children. Karen is working as a dietitian and Bruce is busy in a family business. Roberta Fineberg '77 had her first book, "City Riders" published in October 1997. Rochelle Wolfe '77 is living in Arlington and works as a payroll manager for a temp agency in Waltham. She would love to hear from classmates at RWolfe@total-tech.com Clare (Hartnett) Garland '77 is raising three sons with her husband John Garland '72 in Milton, MA. She is a part-time pastry chef and pastry teacher. Deborah (Sachs) Riley '78 lives in New York with her husband and two children. She works as a buyer for Pierre Deux. Alan Fried '79 recently completed his master's degree in Natural Resources. He is currently working in Portland, ME for a public health consulting company. David Ira Rosenbaum '70 is an attorney practicing with a product liability/commercial law firm in Philadelphia. When not working, David spends his time taking care of his four-year-old daughter and nine-month-old son.

Marc M. Sadowsky, MD, '74, is living and practicing psychiatry in Nashua, NH. He and his wife Devra Cohen, have two sons. Catherine T. Dooley, '74, is working as the branch supervisor at the Coolidge Corner Library. Merle Adelman, '76, reports that sister, Margie, '78, now lives in Brookline with her son, Andrew, who goes to Runkle School, just as they did! Dolly (Gee) Lau, '76, is working at Wellspark Group. She and her husband, Howard Lau, '72, have two daughters and one son. Karen Smith and Bruce Green, '76, report that all is well. Gayle (Archer) Sherman, '77, has two children and is enjoying being a full-time mom. Her husband, Dennis, is an orthodontist in Milton, MA. Adele (Huebel) Pietrantoni, '77, married her husband David in November 1996. Roberta Fineberg, '77, worked as a journalist and photographer in Paris during the 1980s. Her photographs have been exhibited in the United States, France and Russia and as part of several permanent collections. She is included in "Who's Who of American Women 1997-98". Steven M. Bernson, '78, is a marketing and promotions consultant in the entertainment business in Los Angeles, CA. Lynne Sweet, '79, received her MBA from Babson College in May 1996. Lynn Leonardo '79, is leaving messages on AOL to promote sales of Dr. Holland's book and membership in the Alumni Association. Thank you, Lynn, for your efforts!
