Deborah (Aldrich) Dufton 50, just returned from two weeks in Egypt, including a a river cruise on the Nile. We sadly report that Robert Breck 50, passed away in fall of 2001. Allen Shultz 50, is still working as President of Kirkland Construction and living in Boston. Elena (DiGioia) Lepore 50, is fully retired and enjoys spending time with her children and three grandchildren. Clare (Varnum) Lewis 50, is still traveling - she just spend two weeks in Norway in June with the temperature hovering around 46 degrees! She is enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joseph Roycroft 51, is a sergeant with the Plymouth County Sheriffs Department of Elder Affairs. He reports that he is not ready to retire yet! Eleanor Mazur 51, is happily retired and living in Sun City, Texas. Bob Burniston 51, reports that he had a very enjoyable time at the 51 reunion visiting with friends and renewing old friendships. Carole Zaslow 51, recently celebrated her mothers 95th birthday in West Palm Beach. Paul Taylor 51, retired from business in 1993. He has been married to Jeanne Kennedy for 47 years. Together they have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Richard McConnell 51, is living in Sun ity, AZ. He reports that their 50th reunion was attended by 192 people. Lew Seidenberg 52, recently retired from his veterinary practice dealing with low income families and shelter animals. He now donates his services. He has one son and two grandchildren. Rose (Walsh) Roycroft 50, is retiring this year from Rockland Trust Bank. She is planning on spending time with her daughter in Georgia. Elsa (Horter) Reddish 52, is coming up on her 46th wedding anniversary to Edward Reddish 51. They have six children and eleven grandchildren. Dottie (Broughton) Sykes 52, is a retired bookseller, still working part time. She enjoys her 4 children and 4 grandchildren. She loves to play bridge, read and travel. John Jacobson 52, is living in Wayland, MA. He is still married to Shirley. Midge (Kraft) Goren 52, is married to Hal Goren who is still practicing 3 days per week. They keep busy with their three children and four grandchildren. Harriet Burt Schaye 52, has been married for 49 years. She has three children and five grandchildren. Sarah (Ansin) Ravech 52, is well and living in Fort Worth, TX. Bruce Levison 53, retired from full time employment two years ago and now works two days per week as a psychotherapist. He has been married for 37 years with 2 children. Chesley Gray 54, is retired and living in New Hampshire. Glenda (Stone) Sakala 53, is enjoying semi-retirement and traveling when she can. She spends summers and weekends at her beach house in Tiverton, RI. Eddie Kirrane 53, is now coaching the BHS varsity hockey team which made the state tournament for the first time in 10 years! He invites anyone who played hockey for BHS to join the Friends of BHS Boys Hockey. Stanley Moger 54 and his wife Marcia (Fleishman) Moger 55 celebrated their 42nd anniversary. They have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Jim Dewire 54, is still enjoying retirement in relatively good health! He and his wife Dot enjoy boating, golfing and travel. He is just finishing a three year tour as SEO(Squadron Education Officer) for Patchogue Bay Power Squandron. S. Davidson 54, and his wife Nancy Golder Davidson report that their daughter Audry is Chairman of the Economics Department and Head of the MBA program at University of Louisville. She was married in November 2001. Shirley (Mann) Jacobson 52, is still married to John Jacobson 52. She attributes her long marriage to her work as a clinical social worker! She has 2 children who recently moved close by. Richard Boles 54, spent the month of April in China! Edward Albert 54, is retired and living in Keene, NH. Ben Adler 54, is still working. He has two grandchildren and enjoys escaping to his retreat in New Hampshire as often as possible. Marion (Salomon) Levine 55, reports that she sees and hears from many classmates. She sadly reports that her mother passed away in November 2001, just three months short of her 100th birthday. Sheila Heller Brandow 55, has retired as the director of her Synagogue nursery school and now keeps busy with her 12 grandchildren. Blake Munson 55, has two sons who are firefighters and EMTs for the town of Wellesley. He has one son who works for Putnam Investors. Blake has three grandchildren. Susan Sugarman Guber 56, moved to California after living in Florida for 35 years. Sh is married, has two daughters and three granddaughters, all living in California. Susan (Levitt) Falkson 56, is enjoying life on Cape Cod. She travels a lot and enjoys her children and grandchildren. Ann Braeff 56, is happily living in California. Eleanor (Clark) Sapers 56, and husband Gerry will celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary this year. They are both still working full time and enjoy spending time with their two married children and one grandson. Betsy (Stone) Troilo 56, is enjoying retirement. She spends time with her 3 children and 6 grandchildren! Richard Fishman 56, reports that son Jordan was married in July. Bill Levy 57 and Bob Levy 59, report that all is well! Diane Berkowitz Wilcon 58, is a sales representative with 2 married children and 2 grandchildren. Martin Woodle 58, retired in November 2001 as Chief Mechanical Engineer at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He plans to spend his time volunteering and entertaining his grandsons. Warren Blackstone 58, serves as District Enrollment Director and runs the bookstore at Dartmouth College. Susan (Gordon) Weinberger 58 and her twin brother have 9 grandchildren in the family. They are saddened by the death of their childhood friend, Robert Fields 58. Elizabeth (Hamilton) Burke 58, will retire this fall and wants to devote some of her time to the BHS alumni association! Salo Birman 58, is living in Brookline, MA and reports that all is well! David Jacobs 59 has formed the David Jacobs Communication Firm. David is living in Sharon, MA. Edna (Selig) Aronson 59, is enjoying southwest Florida. She reports that her sons are both married and she has a 2 year old granddaughter. Roberta Aronson 59, recently visited Las Vegas with her husband and son to celebrate that special birthday! Dr. Robert Levy 59, reports that the class of 59 held a special reunion in Delray Beach!
Arthur Mason 50, enjoys retirement in Needham, MA and Ft. Myers, FL. Martha Stern Solow 50, was re-elected to the NH House of Representatives having served on the Judiciary Committee. Ann Hyde 50, is living in Randolph, MA. She reports having a great time at the reunion. Barbara Heitner 50, is living in Great Neck, NY. She keeps busy with her part-time job and her 2 grandsons. Carl Stanley Goldman 50, spent 22 years in TV production. He also has a folk/bluegrass band known as Carl Wade and Something Special. They have 3 CDs and a web page: www.carlwade.com. Hovey Tyndall 50, and his wife were delighted by the 50th reunion. Clare Lewis 50, still enjoys traveling as a single person. Last year she went to Germany. Richard Lansfield 50, has been living in California since graduating from BHS. He has 3 sons, 1 daughter and 3 grandchildren. He is semi-retired with 2 Ford dealerships. Dena Levine 50, is retired from teaching special education in Newton. She and her husband have 2 daughters and a grandson. Ruth Cohen Bell 50, is enjoying retirement on Cape Cod. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. Barbara and Marvin Fox 51, 52, recently participated in an international elder hostel, studying Jane Austen in Exeter, England. Robert Hinson 50, and his wife toured Spain during the month of October.Deborah Aldrich Dufton 50, reports that retirement is great. She retired from teaching science and spends time traveling. Al Ginepra reports sadly that Dick Koplow and Helen Tracy both passed away, but that Max Weiner 51, is doing well. A. Smoki Bacon 51, reports that her website for her TV show is http://www.smokibacon.com. Phyllis Johnson 51, just celebrated her 46th anniversary. She has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Pali Dellamano Gall 51, has been married for almost 40 years to Peter Gall. They have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. His career as a journalist has enabled them to live in interesting place such as Germany, Moscow and Singapore. Jean Minkle 51, is looking forward to her 50th reunion and is happy to be alive and well! James Archibald 51, reports that Muriel Dunn Archibald 28, celebrated her 90th birthday last July. In attendance were family members James, John, William and Martha. Carol Adler Levine 51, has been a realtor for the past 18 years. She is currently with Coldwell Banker. She has 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Sandra Simpson Philpott 51, is living in Boston, MA. Marjorie Faye Semple 51, is semi-retired and enjoying her 10 grandchildren. Jean Stewart 52, is enjoying life on Cape Cod. Gerald Cooper 52, reports that he enjoys working in a department store with Mal Dana 39. Joan Marie West 52, reports that retirement, is great. She recently attended her granddaughters college graduation - how the time flies!Alan Lourie 52, continues to sit as a judge on the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington. He sadly reports the loss of his brother, Charles Lourie 58, from a pulmonary embolism, secondary to scleroderma. Sarah Ansin Ravech 52, is enjoying her retirement and taking advantage of all the senior perks offered! She has 6 grandchildren. Fred Cheney 52, is a professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, University of Washington School of Medicine. John Brennan 52, retired last year as a full time faculty member at the School of the Museum of Fine Art. he continues to teach a summer class in Art in Ireland. Judith Snyder Palais 53, recently sold her home and moved her office to Portsmouth, NH. She reports that family and work are well. George Goodman 52, has 2 children and 3 grandchildren. He is retired as head of Technology at T.Rowe Associates. Joan Dewire McKenna 52, is a retired school principal now working at Simmons College in Boston, MA. Irma MacAskill Schroeder 53, died in 1998 of kidney failure. She worked as a nurse in Alaskas bush country since 1958. Eddie Kirrane 53, was honored with a retirement dinner from the town of Brookline, which was a complete surprise! It turned into a BHS reunion of sorts with all the hockey players and playground kids he has coached over the years. Elinor Robrish Englander 53, is a retired respiratory therapist enjoying life on the Connecticut coast. She has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Bob Weissman 53, is enjoying life in Florida and New Hampshire. Tim Eilberg 53, and his wife Susan split their time between Norfolk and Virginia Beach. They have 2 children, 1 in Brookline and 1 in NYC. Herbert Wyman MD 53, continues to work full time as a psychoanalyst in NYC. He is the editor of the Journal of Psychoanalysis. His wife runs her own party planning business. John Wall 53, lives in Natick, MA. He was a BHS faculty member from 1941-1980, Housemaster of Lincoln House in 1953, Housemaster of Roberts House in 1962, and Housemaster of Shailer House in 1966. Ronald Brown 53, is a Board Member of BHS 21st Century Fund and has 3 grandchildren, all born in 2000. Harold Goldfarb MD 53, is still practicing opthamology in Allentown, PA. Brenda Burke 54, has returned to Massachussets after being away for over 30 years. Marisa Gori McCoy 54, that after 26 years of teaching secondary school English, she is well into her second career as a wedding florist and flower show judge. Steffi Lewin Shapiro 54, is a psychotherapist in private practice and teaches yoga at various locations including the Brookline Senior Center. Wilma Greenfield 54, is a professor of Social Work. She recently stepped down as chair of the department. Manuel Lipson 54, has retired as President and Chief of Medical Staff at the Spaulding Hospital and Vice President of Mass General Hospital. Richard Boles 54, was invited by the Chinese Government to participate in a 15-person tax committee to advise China on writing new tax laws and expanding its exports. Elinor Skalet 54, has been married to Ira Skalet for 43 years. She has 2 married children and 2 granddaughters. Marilyn Attenberg 55, is alive and well in Boca Raton and living near her daughter and grandchildren. Jack Fay 55 and Lorraine Perry Fay 56, are enjoying semi-retirement together. They both work for the town of Brookline part-time. Their children are all graduates of BHS, and they have 18 grandchildren. Edith Berger Kaplan 55, is Administrator of Continuing Education at Case Western Reserve University. She and husband Arthur have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. William Cowin 55, was appointed by Gov. Cellucci to fill a vacancy on the Mass Appeals court in February 2001. Valerie Kruger Schneider 56, is attending Santa Barbara Graduate Institute for PhD is prenatal and perinatal psychology. She is spending her time these days learning her new IMac computer and would love to email members of her class. Her email is valesch@earthlink.net Anne Goldstein Braeff 56, teaches at Garfield High School in E. Los Angeles. She has been included in Whos Who of American Teachers 2000 Susan Joel Winett 56, has 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren. He works at BMC Software and has been there for almost 20 years. Levitt Falkson 56, reports that all is well. She lives year-round on Cape Cod. classmates. Evelyn Vigo 57, reports that her store, Brookline Booksmith, continues to flourish. Her son Eric Taylor and his wife Kasia have a beautiful daughter born 8/7/00. Arleen Roberts 57, reports that about 15 members of the class of 57 lunch together in Boca Raton. They recently attended the Summer Nationals in California where they met and competed against Bill Gates of Microsoft fame! Warren Camarano 57, is the Director, President and CEO of USAA, a financial service company. He has been married for 39 years with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Wilma Sulkin Dickerman 57, reports that husband Gary retired from dentistry last year. Their two children are happily married and she and Gary enjoy traveling. Paul Fitzgerald 58, is living in Holliston, MA. Elaine Lyons 58, has 7 grandchildren, 3 children and a husband of 37 years. Sheila Oxman Wiselman 58, is an artist who shares her time between Snata Fe and Chicago. She has twin daughters who are each married with one son. Paul Varnum 58, is looking for golfers from the class of 1958 for the Alumni Golf Tournament in early August! Judy Gordon 58, works in the insurance business and loves to travel. She has three children. Robert Bisazzo 59, and his wife enjoy spending their time between Foxboro, MA and Vero Beach, FL. They have 2 grandchildren. Dan Pearlman 59, retired from IBM after working for 35 years at the company. His younger son Neil just became engaged to be married. Dolores Glasser Orkin 59, has been married for 38 years to husband Don who is an attorney. They have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. They live in Sharon, MA but vacation at their home on Cape Cod. She would love to hear from classmates.
Russell Maginnis '50, is retired after 10 years as an engineer and 32 years as a trial lawyer! Last year he backpacked for a month in Patagonia. He says "hello" to Leon Glass. Alvin Sherman '50, is retired from practicing law and is living in West Palm Beach. Alice (Stern) Weiser '50, is living in Houston, TX. She is a handwriting analyst, lecturer and the author of "Judge the Jury." Ronald Glickman '50, and his wife Roz are spending half the year in Delray Beach and the other half in Needham, MA, in order to enjoy their children and four grandchildren. Rose Marie (Walsh) Roycroft '50, is semi-retired with two children and four grandchildren. She recently celebrating her 46th anniversary with husband Joe Roycroft '51. George Sutherland '50, is playing tennis three or four times a week and looking forward to St. Augustine Beach next winter. Although he was sorry to miss the 50th reunion because of the marriage of his nephew, he did attend the Class of 2000 graduation and enjoyed that experience. Mary (Driscoll) Gardetto '50 missed the 50th reunion because of weather-related air delays, but she enjoyed the 2000 graduation; it brought back lots of happy memories. Robert Breck '50, enjoyed the 50th reunion very much. Ginny (Wyatt) Moon '50, has been living in Wellesley with her husband Don for more than 43 years. She has four children and five grandchildren. She thanks Bart Coffin and gang for the great job on the 50th reunion. Bob Rodman '51, lives in California with his wife Kathy and their children Sarah, 16 and Nick, 14. Kathy and Bob each have two grown children as well. He continues to practice psychoanalysis and write books. Sandra (Simpson) Philpott '51, retired in June '98 and daughter Holly Costa took over the Hazel Boone Dance Studios (established in 1910). She is enjoying retirement in the Back Bay with her husband Herb, who is a retired music educator and former BHS band director. Dr. Alfred Ginepra '51, reports that Mel Weiner '51 is doing fine. Sadly, though, he reports the deaths of Dick Koplow '51, and Helen Tracy, wife of former track coach Dick Tracy. He recently spoke to Bob Carrier '52 and Marilyn (Tanner) Oettinger '51. They also discussed Dr. Lois (Barth) Epstein, '51, a professor at UC San Francisco; Rich Ward, '52, a labor negotiator, Dave Kopelman, '51, a judge, Dick McConnell '51, class reunion chair, and Smoki Bacon (Ruth Ginepra) '45, Al's beloved sister. Mildred (Velleman) Feldberg '51, and her husband Charlie have been living on Long Island since 1956. Charlie is a retired Best Foods executive and Mickey is a food writer. They have three children and seven grandchildren. They spend summer weekends in Southampton and several winter months in Palm Beach. Alan Alford '51, is still active in the travel business, Fresh Pond Travel in Marlboro, MA. He is still active in dog shows, and gets to see Sandra Goose Allen '51, a dog show judge, often. Sandra is judging the terrier group at Westminster Kennel Club this year. Karla (Lothrop) Wight and Joseph Wight '51, have five children and four grandchildren. They spend six months in New Hampshire and six months in the state of Washington. D. Reid "Buzz" Wiseman '51, placed 45th in the Boston Marathon in 1951 with a time of 3:14:32. We'd love to hear from other BHS alums who have run the Marathon. Ken Hughes '51, is a retired FBI agent. After that, he was a criminal investigator in New Hampshire from 1987 to 1997. He is retired now, married with two sons and a granddaughter. Patricia (Murray) Rose '51, is still best friends with Jean (Follis) Minkle '51. They enjoy talking about old friends and enjoy the BHS Alumni newsletter. Joe Roycroft '51, is working full time for the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department in charge of "Are You OK?", a senior calling system. He has helped save 14 seniors in life-threatening situations. Richard Lewis '51, has two additional granddaughters to report. He continues to enjoy travel and skiing. Arthur Stavisky '51, has formed a new partnership with attorney Donna Kelly under the name of Stavisky and Kelly. LLP. Bob Adamson '51, has two children and one grandchild. He is retired after 39 years in the packaging industry. He recently lost his wife of 40 years after a long battle with cancer. Aurelia (Carissimo) Koros '52, has five daughters and two grandsons. She is still a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. She recently received a research grant to identify more specific treatments for breast cancer.Warren Goorno '52, is living and practicing internal medicine in Concord, MA. He has been married to his wife Nancy (Brenner) for 42 years. They have three children and two grandchildren. Spencer Drewett '52, reports that he still has a pulse! Robert Christianson '52, recently took a position as clinical supervisor with Marion-Citrus Mental Health Center. For fun, he enjoys sailing. Alberta (Cohen) Endler '53, and her husband Stephen continue to enjoy their health. They spend quality time with their four grandchildren ages 2 to 12. Ellen (Gordon) Zimet '53, is living in California and is working as a grant writer and educational consultant. Elisse (Robbins) Price '53, is a retired teacher from the Wayland, MA school system. She now teaches music three days a week at Mount Alvernia Academy. She and her husband Jack Price '52, spend their spare time travelling and with their children and seven grandchildren. Stephen Tonra '53, sadly reports that Robert Goldfarb '53, "a wonderful man" died this year. Louise (Harris) Feinberg '53, has been living in Los Angeles since 1964. She is a semi-retired speech pathologist with two children and two granddaughters. She's enjoying a rewarding retirement: she sings in a choir, organizes retreats and volunteers at the Getty Museum. She's also learning to draw and participating in a reader's theater program. Philip Rollins '53, is the DA from the Cape and the Islands. Bob Johnson '54, reports that his mother Mary Johnson '22, is well and living in Nashua, NH. His brother, Peter Johnson '52, is retired and lives in Acton. Bob, the chief organizer of the Class of '54 reunions, works in institutional investments, and is the co-founder of an Internet company. He credits his success in life with the "good jump start from my days at BHS." Brenda (McMahon) Burke '54, and her husband have just retired and are living in the Poconos until they make a decision about their permanent residence (Cape Cod or Chagrin Falls). They have five daughters and eight grandchildren. Eleanor (Greenberg) Altman '54, sadly reports the death of her husband, Dr. Ronald Altman, from cancer. She continues to work as a learning disability teacher consultant. She has three children. Harry Weintrob '54, says he was always next-to-last in running around the block in Mr. Bemis' gym class. Now, he says, he is firmly in the middle of the pack. Paul Roazen '54, has published three new books in 2000: "The Historiography of Psychoanalysis," "Oedipus in Britain" and "Political Theory and the Psychology of the Conscious." Anne "Nancy" (McParland)Weiner '54, is retired and spends quality time with husband, Arthur, travelling and playing golf. Beverly (Weinstein) Litman '55 and husband Roger took a month to tour Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti. They came back in time to celebrate their grandson's first birthday. Sheila (Berger) Brandow '55, is retired as the director of her synagogue's nursery school. She and her husband live part time in Delray Beach, FL and have eight grandchildren. Sheila (Cronin) Sullivan '55, and her husband Bill live six months in Nantucket and six months in Raleigh, NC. Both are retired and play tennis every day they can. They have four children, four grandchildren and two more on the way. David Margolis '55, is the owner of Syndicated Ad Ftrs, Inc. and was elected president of Aero Club of New England. He is a long-time pilot, CFI and aircraft owner. Charles Flink '55, reports that he saw at least three BHS grads at his class of 1960 40th reunion at Brandeis during the weekend of June 16th, 2000. Judith (Biller) Rosenthal '56, continues to work part-time at Newton North High School. Husband David (Boston Latin '59) is the director of Harvard University Health Services. They have one daughter and one granddaughter. Bob Weiss '57, recently joined a new Home Depot company called the Expo Design Center as a sales associate in appliances. He is the team manager of a NASCAR modified division race team from Needham, MA. Martin Aronson '57 and Geila (Shore) Aronson '60, are heading to South Africa and Zimbabwe this summer after traveling to Australia and Fiji this past year. Ira Abramson '57, has three children and one grandchild. He is semi-retired and living in Florida. Diane (O'Connell) Sheedy '57, has seven children and 11 grandchildren. Her husband has begun his third career as a deacon in the Catholic Church. Barry Daniels '57, is living in Framingham and has two children, Kenneth, 32, a systems engineer in Phoenix and Alissa, 30, a program interpreter for the Children's Museum in Boston. Ralph Levine '58, is a CPA. He and his wife Marge split their time between Chestnut Hill and West Dennis, Cape Cod. Dr. Susan (Gordon) Weinberger '58, is living in New York City. She has been married to husband Norman, a pediatrician, for 38 years. She notes that she and twin brother Richard, were the only twins in the Class of '58. She is the president of the Mentor Consulting Group. Son Gordon owns Gordon's Baking Co. and daughter Lisa is a graphic designer. Judith (Gittelsohn) Fales '58, and her husband are now retired. They have two grandchildren and plan to leave Vermont for Naples, FL. Dr. John Golkrand '58 has been living in Savannah, GA, for almos 12 years. He is enjoying being a grandfather and has a home in Maine. Frank Goldschmidt '59, is well and living in Framingham, MA. He thanks Ray Silton for the wonderful story about Stan Livingston in our last issue. Frank received the Livingston Trophy in 1959. David Brown '59, passed away suddenly in 1996. His wife Roberta and two children still live in Wrentham, MA. He enjoyed a long and successful career as an elementary school teacher and was also an antique appraiser and auctioneer. David Greenberg '59, is living in San Diego and operating a flower business. He may move back east in a few years. He is single and available! David has two children, Bruce in Boston and Michelle in Atlanta. Marilyn (Smith) Gunnell '59, has been married to husband John for 35 years. They have five children and live in Glendale, CA, where Marilyn is a community and AIDS activist. A retired RN and retired private investigator, she's still close friends with Margie (Zitter) Kahn '59 and husband Ed.
Daniel Rollins, Jr. '50, is an electronic engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration. Bob Frank '50, is the President and CEO of SFM Media. He is living in Ridgefield, CT. Pat (Hickey) Wengert '50, has lived in Syracuse for 41 years with her husband Bob. They have six children and 10 grandchildren. Marilyn "Mikki" (Kaplan) Krassin '50, has retired from teaching. She spends winters in New Hampshire skiing. She has been married for 43 years and has three children and four grandchildren. Barabara (Rohtstein) Heitner '50, moved to New York in 1953. She is now widowed and living in Great Neck. She enjoys her children, two grandchildren and works part-time. Allen Schultz '50, is still working as president of the Kirkland Construction Company in Cambridge. His first wife passed away in 1989 and he married Kathryn Zuckerman in 1995. Clare (Varnum) Lewis '50, reports that her husband of 20 years, Jack, died in June. She says she has lost her best friend and travel companion. Elena (Di Gioia) Lepore '50, is semi-retired and works for a real estate management office in Chestnut Hill. She and her husband have two children and three grandchildren. Robert Hinson '50, and his wife Beatrice have lived in Colorado since 1957. They have three children and one grandson. Robert is the part-owner of a Cessna 182. Leon Glass '50, retired after 33 years in engineering management. He and his wife have four children. Betsy "Friedman) Abrams '50, continues as archivist for Temple Israel in Boston. She has prepared a number of historical exhibits there. Dena (Waldman) Lavine '50, has lived in Wellesley for the past 42 years. She retired from teaching special education in the Newton School System and is enjoying retirement by going to aerobics classes, choral group, reading, lectures, traveling and getting pleausre from her chidren and grandson. Marvin J. Fox '50, says retirement is great! He's taking adult ed courses, reading, going to concerts and the theater, and doing some traveling with his wife, Barbara (Karron) Fox. Marlene (Davis) Slavin '51, is happily living in the retirement community of the Villages Golf and Tennis Country Club in San Jose, CA. Aino (Heskari) Doull '51, is happy and working as an accounting technician at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, a nuclear submarine repair base and says "I'm nowhere NEAR retirement!" Patricia (Murray) Rose '51, reports that retirement is great. Her grandson Matthew Rose, a junior at Springfield College, was named to the US Bobsled Federation and will be contending for a spot on the US Olympic bobsled team. Bob Burniston '51, has retired from the military - Navy/Air Force after 20 years and 24 years with the Veteran's Administration. He is divorced with four children and two grandchildren. She is also a judge at dog shows and is the author of "The Complete Skye Terrier" and "The Terrier Lover's Cook Book" as well as numerous articles and pamphlets. She has just received the Maxwell Award for her booklet on Scottish Terriers, from the Dog Writers Association of America. Larry Wilson '51, is alive and well, and reports that he loves this newsletter! He is living in Florida and has four children and five grandchildren. He plans to retire in 2050!! Richard McConnell '51, is busy planning the 50th class reunion in 2001 to be held November 10, 2001 at the Holiday Inn, Brookline. He is still vacationing in Arizona in the winter. Helaine (Aronson) Miller '51, sadly reports that her husband Stanley died on January 28, 2000 from complications from lymphoma. He was her BHS senior prom date! Jean (Hayward) Stewart '52, is enjoying retirement on Cape Cod. She has three grown children and one grandchild. Robin (Bennett) Cohen '52, retired in December 1999. She and her husband Art plan to play, work out, volunteer and travel. They also plan to visit their grandchildren in San Diego and Santa Barbara. Marilyn (Galer) Rubin '52, married Mel Rubin 45 years ago. They have one daughter and three grandsons. Shel Siegel '52, recently retired as president/ceo of WLVT-TV in Allentown, PA after 31 years in charge. He and his wife Lolly have been married 43 years with two sons. A graduate of Brown with a Master's Degree from BU, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Muhlenberg College. John Drain, Jr. '52, retired as a senior tax officer with State Street Bank and Trust in August 1996. Paul M. Jenkins '52, retired from the VA in Boston in 1985. He took care of his mother so she did not have to go into a nursing home. He has traveled the world over many times. Glenda (Stone) Sakala '53, is still traveling, enjoying her beach house in Tiverton, RI and volunteering a few days a week for Habitat for Humanity. She describes herself as the "busiest retired person around" with reading, playing with computer and bowling. Selma (Slotnick) Lait '53, has been widowed for 10 years. She retired from teaching after 28 years as a reading specialist. She still volunteers in a second-grade classroom and at the BSO Symphony Store. One daughter is completing her residency and her other daughter is married with one son and living in London. Edna Mannos '53, is the food and beverage director of Summit Energy Corp in Los Angeles. She has two sons and two grandsons. Judith (Snyder) Palais '53, is a psychiatric social worker and family therapist in Southern New Hampshire. Macey is a retired teacher of English and theatre and was the artistic director for two theatres on Long Island. Stephen Wax '56, recently retired after working 32 years as a civilian working for the US Navy in San Diego, California. He invites fellow classmates to call when they're in the area! Greta (Segal) Hanisch, Ph.D '56, reports that her husband Herman just retired from the mathematics department at CCNY after 40+ years of teaching. They have been married for 30 years. He is the leading designer and installer of "Video on Demand" systems for yachts, private jets and residences. Steven Goldstein '57, is a program director in charge of international networking at the National Science Foundation since 1989. Steven is now senior advisor for information technology at NSF and is married to Isabelle Halley Des Fontaines. They have three grown children (all married and employed!) and two grandchildren. Robert Lechter '58, sold his business two years ago and moved to Florida. He now teaches tennis, and keeps busy fishing and boating. Alan Friedman '58, is vp of marketing for H. Silver and Associates in Los Angeles. He and his wife are enjoying their first grandchild, Jacob Randall Friedman. Robert Sloane '50, has been appointed director of the Health Administration Program at the University of Southern California. He is also a clinical professor at the university. Joan (Beaumont) Grossman '50, retired after many years as a federal government employee. She is widowed with two granddaughters. Her twin sister Glad (Beaumont) Shulman lives in Florida. Pat (Hickey) Wengert '50, and her husband Bob plan to attend the 50th reunion "with bells on." Chuck Goldberg '50, sold his business Cambridge Tire to Goodyear in 1986 and has been happily playing ever since. He enjoys boating, fishing, furniture making and cooking. His wife Wendy is an accomplished photographer. Kae Ellen (Small) Englander '50, is retiring after 12 1/2 years managing a large real estate complex. She is living in Weston, MA. Alfred Ginepra '51, reports that his daughter, a human rights attorney, has been to Albania and Yugoslavia twice and was interviewed on CNN. His son is a tn-athlete. Alfred, a widower, heads the National Rugby Alumni Association. Nancy (Sulkin) Mann '51, has been the principal of Palm City Elementary School since l985. The school received a $40,000 dollar award for improvement and maintenance of high test scores. Only three schools of 20 in the district received an "A" rating-and Nancy's school was one of them! Marilyn (Tanner) Oestinger '51, has retired from health care management. Her husband Tony is still teaching at Harvard. They have lived in Belmont, MA for almost 40 years. Their two baby granddaughters live "too far away"-outside of Chicago with their son, a management consultant an4 his wife, a software engineer. Luckily, their daughter and her husband, both professors at Harvard Medical School, live nearby with their infant grandson. Lenore (Mendelsohn) Lieber '51, and her husband have been living in Great Neck, NY for the past 27 years. They report that they have finally become grandparents when one of their daughters adopted a beautiful baby boy. Lenore who retired after 28 years of teaching, is doing a great deal of traveling with her husband. Steve Flashman '51, is living in Florida and is interested in hearing from old grads. Joseph Wight '51, and Karla (Lothrop Williams) Wight have been married for five years. They have five adult children between them and three grandchildren. In 1988, they retired and became bi-coastal, living summers in Conway, NH and winters in the Seattle area (Reports Joseph: "You don't have to shovel snow!"). Paula (Goodfader) John '52, retired to Paradise (i.e. Sarasota, FL) following her husband's death. She was delighted to find Judy (Abelman) Weinstein '52, living there. M. Joan (Dewire) McKenna '52, is currently supervising student interns/teachers at Simmons College (many trained in the Brookline schools!). She just returned from building a home in Baton Rouge for Habitat For Humanity-the third home with which she has been involved as part of an all-women's blitz! Marilyn (Galer) Ruben '52 is happily married to Mel Rubin; they celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary this month. Dr. A. Peter Davis '52, is the recipient of many civic awards and honors from Mass. Dental Society, National Kidney Foundation and more. He is retired from the practice of dentistry but remains active in state and local causes. He is a recent recipient of a kidney transplant and had bypass surgery. Aurelia (Carissimo) Koros, Ph.D. '52, has been a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health since 1982 where she does cancer research, and has been married to Peter Koros for 41 years. They have five daughters and one grandson. She and her husband went to Tahiti last year and they visit Brookline every three months or so, although her mother died last year at age 89. David Williams '52, is presently regent of the Institute of Tax Consultants and American Society of Tax Professionals. He lives in Ocean View, NJ. He enjoys his two grandchildren and has lived in Florida for the past five years. Ellen (Gordon) Zimet '53, a retired principal and grant writer, is alive and well. Jimmy Bloom '53, has been living in the Chicago area since 1961. He has three married children and three wonderful grandchildren, all of whom live nearby. Lois (Weinstein) Morse '53, lived in Newton, MA for 38 years. She and her husband Norman are now spending much of their time in Jupiter, FL and are planning on having a summer retreat on Cape Cod. Richard Boles '54, was just appointed chairman of the section of International Law for the Norris Carolina Bar Association. Mary (Earley) Hunson '54, retired from the Cape Ann Medical Center as a medical group practice administrator in July 1998. She has four grandchildren, a son Don who lives in Michigan and a daughter Rita, who lives in Gloucester. Dr. Manuel Lipson '54, is living in Weston, MA. He has retired as president and chief of staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He is now a senior administrator at Mass General Hospital and involved with two Internet start-up companies. Judith (Freedman) Rubinstein '55, is starting her own business- making custom-designed greeting cards, posters and calendars, and teaching basic PC skills to elder citizens in retirement communities. Gerald Schneider '55, has retired in Port Orchard, WA, after selling his California construction company, Tri-Valley Contractors.
His daughter Telzey graduated from San Francisco State and announced her engagement. Daughter Sara lives in Sydney, Australia and son David works on a ranch in Wyoming. Elaine (Stoll) Albert '55, announces the birth of her second grandchild, David Bernard, first child for son Steve and his wife Man. Joan (Ettinger) Saltman '55, is teaching social work at West Virginia University and is the proud mother of three children and one adorable grandson. Greta (Segal) Hanisch, Ph.D '56, lives in Riverdale, NY, but feels so nostalgic for Massachusetts that she is planning to look for a small vacation/retirement cottage somewhere along the Cape. Alan Wayne '56, has been with United Airlines for 32 years, the last 19 as director of public affairs for the west region. Although living in California, he still roots for the Sox, Bruins and Celtics! Susan (Sugarman) Gruber '56, and her husband Michael have been married 40 years. They have lived in Miami for 35 years and plan a summer home in San Francisco. They have two daughters living in California and family still in Boston, so they visit regularly. Dr. Kenneth Bernstein '56, has retired after 24 years supporting systems development and military intelligence at MITRE Corp. Joel Winett '56, is active in Framingham Town Meeting and the MIT Educational Council. He has three daughters and one grandchild. Lorna J. Nordstrum '56, and Andrew J. Murphy '55, sadly report that their 39-year-old son, James Kenneth died on September 23, 1998 after a four-year-long battle with cancer. Many BHS friends and relatives attended the wake and funeral in Hanover, NH. Our condolences. Jerry Feld '56, reports that his oldest son, Jonah graduated from BHS this past June, and like Jerry's graduation in '56, it took place in "the quad." Jim Shohet '57, is living in the Chicago area with his spouse of 37 years, Pat. He has three daughters and one grandchild and is still working as a manufacturing management consultant. BHS get more precious." Wilma (Sulkin) Dickerman '57, reports that her husband, Dr. Gary Dickerman, is retiring from dentistry after 40 years and she is retiring from dental hygiene work. Her daughter Lauren is entering her fourth year of optometry school and her son Carey is a meteorologist in Texas. Barbara (Landis) Amos ~ is living in New York, but has a vacation home in Groton, MA and may retire there. Her daughter, Julie, is a veterinarian in Chelmsford and lives in Westford with her husband, Matt. Peter Goldfarb '58, owns and operates the White Swan Guest House, located in La Conner, WA, where for the past 13 years he has served as innkeeper, cook, concierge, gardener, maid and handyman. This past summer, Terri (Weinberger) Binder '58, and her husband Fred stayed there during a trip through the Pacific Northwest and reported that it was the highlight of their trip. Peter hopes more BHS alumni will come visit this beautiful waterfront village. Robert "Bob" Carr '58, reports that he is currently in severe weight loss mode as he progresses towards a heart transplant. He is enjoying an on-line relationship with JMFC from class of '59. Harriet (Engel) Cuthbert '58, is living "Ia vida loca" on Siesta Key in Florida and enjoying semi-retirement. She had an excellent time at the 40th last year and is looking forward to the next reunion, in 2003, in Florida. Judith (Gittelsohn) Fales '58, was the chairperson of the 10-day Vermont Festival of the Arts this past August. Rafael Lissack '58, reports that his oldest son, Kyle, was married this past year, which was why he could not attend the reunion. Son Michael just graduated from BU and daughter Meredith will be entering her senior year at NYU. Marshall Glasser '58, and his wife Denise have recently purchased a summer home in West Stockbridge, MA, where they plan on entertaining their four children and three grandchildren. Sally Jesse Raphael show and lives in Westchester with wife Jill and daughter Lindsay. They traveled to Florida this summer to meet "Granny and Papa." Dr. Bob Levy '59, is a city manager and reports that he is involved in the process of creating a new city in south Florida! Edna (Selig) Aronson '59, and her husband recently moved to Bonita Springs in southwest Florida. She would love to hear from anyone in the Fort Myers/Naples area. Dan Pearlman '59, announces that his son, Scott was married to Anna Wales this past summer. Lois (Fleishman) Levick '59, is the director of a telecommunication marketing program for Compaq Computer. She has two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tucker. Norma (Bisazza) Roberta '59, is the owner of two print shops, one in Randolph, MA, and one in Avon, MA. The business name is Ziprint Centers, Inc. Mary (Driscoll) Gardetto '50, is looking forward to her 50th reunion next year! Aaron H. Knopping '50, is rapidly recovering from open heart surgery and enjoying life in sunny Florida. Priscilla (Sawyer) Steinberg '50, continues to work part-time as executive director of the Oberlin Chamber of Commerce, even though her friends and husband have retired. Before that, she taught primary-age grades for 25 years. Two children live in San Francisco and one lives in Cleveland. Barbara (MacLeod) '50, and Robert Tudor '50, recently celebrated the birth of their eighth grandchild and are looking forward to the 50th reunion. Ronald Glickman '50, and his wife are spending their winters in Delray Beach, FL; their children and four grandchildren visit every year. Maxine (Herman) Friedman '50, has moved her insurance office to Coolidge Corner in Brookline and she is currently working as an insurance broker. Mary (Dickson) Angevine '50, reports that she is alive and well on the North River on Middle Peninsula of Virginia. She and her husband were in Boston to attend the 45th wedding anniversary of Edmund and Ann (Breadon) Patey '50 last June. Marica (Murphy) Whitney '50, is looking forward to he 50th; she lives in Kennesaw, Georgia. Harold Sparr '51, received the "Bowl of Hygeia" award last year from the Massachusetts Pharmacist Association. He was also a delegate to the third International Pharmaceutical Competency Conference in Sydney, Australia. Natalie (Manson) Rothstein '51, is a writer and her new book, "An American Family" was published this spring by Fithian Press. The book is a personal history incorporating the Jewish immigrant experience. Natalie and husband Alan Rothstein '48, are still living in Brookline in the same house whether they raised their three children and where they enjoy visits from their six grandchildren. Cynthia (Winn) Jartman '51, has lived in Annapolis, MD, with husband Marc since 1980. Her two daughters, her mother and brother Arthur and his family all live in the Boston area. Alvin Somers '51, lives in California and retired in April. He says he has the best of all worlds: lots of time to play "Taxi Mom" for his 13-year-old daughter, lots of time to be a doting grandfather to his older daughter's six-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter and their working cattle ranch 45 minutes away, lots of time to be chef for the family (although that has added some pounds to his formerly skinny body) and way too much time to spend on the Internet. Elaine (Barron) Alexander '51, has lived in Atlanta for more than 40 years. She has four married children and six grandchildren so far. She retired as executive director of Leadership Atlanta six years ago and remains active in politics and as an advocate for women's issues. M. Faye (Atkinson) Semple '51, is semi-retired. Her four children are married and have blessed her with eight grandchildren. "The newsletter brings back fond memories!" Alfred Ginepra, Jr., '51, reports that his two children are thriving: Joanne (Yale Law) for Human Rights Watch and Lawrence (Berkley), a famous California painter. Warren Smith '51, and his wife Janet live in Kingston, N.H. He is a retired quality control supervisor with Lucent Tech, a police officer and a State of New Hampshire court baliff. They enjoy gardening and their six chilren and 13 grandchildren. Phyllis (Shecter) Gottfried '51, celebrated her 40th anniversary with husband Herb last winter by traveling to New Zealand with their son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter Emma. George W.
Johnston '51, recently retired after 40 years with Reckitt Colman, as Northeast regional manager. He also celebrated 41 years of marriage (seven grandchildren!) and continues to participate in several road races throughout the year. Nancy (Seegal) Berkman '51, reports that she loves being a grandmother. Warren Goorno '52, has been married 40 years and has three boys, ages 37, 35 and 26. He has been an internist in Concord, MA, for 30 years. Sarah (Ansin) Ravech '52, has been happily divorced for 10 years and is enjoying her pastels, volunteer work and visits to her grandchildren in Needham, MA, and Nashville. Alan D. Lourie '52, was awarded the Jefferson Medal for exceptional contributions to intellectual property law by the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association. He continues to serve as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. John David Hughes '53, received approval from the American Kennel Club last year to judge Scottish Terrier and Junior Showmanship. His first judging assignment was in White Plains, N.Y. this past March. Herbert M. Wyman '53, shares good news: his first grandson was born last year. Joel A. Flashman '53, reports that a "mini reunion" was held for the Class '53 at the Peninsula Hotel last July in Beverly Hills, CA, with Michael "Mickey" Drukman '53, who was visiting on business. Joel says Mickey has lived his entire life in the 02167 zip code (now 02467) as have Lois (Harris) Feinberg '53 and Lois (Weinstein) Morse '53. Dr. Harold J. Goldfarb, '53, is still practicing ophthalmology and taking frequent educational travel vacations. He is enjoying his 11 grandchildren and likes seeing classmates at reunions. He says he's glad he started his medical practice in 1968 and not 1998! Ronald Brown '53, is one of the founding contributors to the BHS 21st Century Fund. Arlene (Keizer) Lovenvirth '54, has retired from teaching in New York City and is now pursuing her acting career using the name Arlene Love. Wilma (Greenfield) Moore '54, received the "Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award" for 1997-98 from the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs at Florida Atlantic Unviersity, where she has been promoted to professor. Bennette A. Shultz '54, celebrated her 40th reunion at Radcliffe last year. Brother Henry Shultz '58, gave away his younger daughter in marriage last fall and Diane (DeeDee) Berkowitz Wilcon '58, attended the wedding. Son Steve is a vp at Nations Bank; he and his wife are expecting their first child in May. Mimi (Silbert) Joseph '55, reports that she renews her New England roots every summer by spending six-eight weeks at a summer cottage in Mashpee. Greta (Segal) Hanisch, PhD, '56, legally changed her name from Gertrude in 1997. For the past three years she has been teaching students strategies and techniques for passing civil service exams. Her husband Herman is a mathematics professor at City College. She says she misses Brookline and goes back to visit often! Rona (Savel) Hamaa '56, who owns her own telecommunications services agency, is currently president of the New England Women Business Owners. David Borden '56, writes: "In January, a CD entitled "Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Co. 1970-1973" was released." Susan (Levitt) Falkson '56, enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with family and friends. She has two grown sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law and three fabulous grandchildren. Judy (Keilman) Holsberg '57,, is planning a move to Santa Fe, New Mexico this year with her hu sband Joe, who retired at the end of '96. Daughter Wendy lives in New Jersey, son Bruce and his wife live in San Francisco and brother Peter Holsberg '52, lives in New Jersey with his wife Cathy. Wendy, Bruce and Peter are all electrical engineers! After retiring from a banking career in 1984, Judy keeps busy with community affairs, editing a monthly community newsletter, cross-country skiing, playing bridge and answering e-mail. Joseph Bank '57, has been working at Sharon Memorial Park with Mike Lipof, president for the last four years. Joseph's son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Deborah, had a son, Jacob Samuel Bank, last year. Robert Weiss '57, was the "Prince of Nails" for five years at Home Depot and is now at Best Buy in Framingham, MA, selling major appliances part time. Linda Kline '58, reports that after owning and directing human resources consulting firms in New York City since 1978, she recently semi-retired to her home in upstate New York. Although she also kept her apartment in NYC, Linda is doing general business and human-resources consulting, teaching at the local community college an dabbling in 19th Century American antiques. Harvey Goldberg '58, celebrated the birth of his third granddaughter, Carly Beth, this past November. Barbara (Levine) Rutberg '58, recently retired after almost 20 years as a judge and is now doing mediations and arbitrations. He has a daughter, Bonnie, who is a lawyer and a granddaugther living in Ann Arbor, MI. Dolores (Glasser) Orkin '59, and husband Dan are grandparents to Eliezer Moshe Orkin, son of Rabbi Jeffrey and Debbie Orkin. Dolores and Don also have a daughter Lisa, an occupational therapist/yoga instructor and a daughter Laura, married to Matthew Rosenthal, who works as a consultant for a laser company. Peter C. Rollins '59, has published three books in the last year: "Hollywood's World War I," "Hollywood's Indian" and "Hollywood as Historian (second edition)." June (Vine) Slote '50, has lived in Florida for 17 years and has been employed as an adult abuse investigator for nearly 16 years. She is active as a Unitarian, co-parented a daughter who just graduated from Bard, and is a member of "Another Octave", a women's chorus. John Logan '50, and his wife have been married for 45 years and live between Chatham and Needham. They have eight grandchildren. He is the director of veteran's services for the towns of Dover and Needham. Robert Jacobson '50, is living on the Virginia Peninsula. He has been involved in exploring his Newfoundland roots on-line. Mary (Allen) Berman '50, is living on Cape Cod. Betsy (Friedman) Abrams '50, is the archivist of Temple Israel, Boston and prepared an anniversary exhibit on Rabbi Joshua Loth Liebman. She lives in Brookline with her husband Robert Abrams '45. George Sutherland '50, is retired after 30 years in the insurance business. He spent January and February 1998 in St. Augustine. He has been married 39 years, has two daughters and five grandchildren. Robert Breck '50, has been married 40 years and is semi-retired. He has four grandsons. He spends three months a year in Ft. Meyers. He's looking forward to his 50th reunion. Clare (Varnum) Lewis '50, headed west again this year for 16 days. She visited Pike's Peak, Mesa Verde, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Elsa was an RN who worked at a number of area hospitals and lived in Brookline. Arthur Stavisky '51, is living in the Berkshires with his wife Judy, who is retired from her teaching career. Arthur still practices law and is enjoying the newest area of law-Elder Law. Joseph Roycroft '51, and his wife Marie are still working and enjoying great health. They just returned from Atlantic City where Marie hit big for a few thousand!! Richard McConnell '51, is on his 10th year of retirement and his sixth year of wintering in Arizona. Lois (Barth) Epstein '51, is retired from the University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco where she was a professor in the department of Pediatrics and research associate and former associate director of the Cancer Research Institute. Her husband, Dr. Charles Epstein, is fully recovered from injuries sustained in June of 1993 when he was the recipient of a bomb sent to their home by the notorious Unabomber, Ted Kazynski. We are glad all is well with the Epsteins. Harold Sparr '51, was the recipient of the distinguished service award (1998) from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. They have four children and two grandchildren. Peggy (Kilgallon) Diamond '52, was recently honored at a retirement luncheon given by her co-workers at the Boston School Department. Among those attending were three BHS "52" friends: Anne (Walsh) O'Connor, Joan (Hyland) Gerghaty and Maryjean (Kelly) Higgins. Roberta (O'Donnell) Walker '52, is a country music singer who performs under the name Karen Roberts. In 1996 she was elected to the Country Music of America Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. In April of 1997 she won the title of Ms. Senior New Hampshire and Ms. Congeniality. In September of 1997 she won second runner-up in the Ms. Senior America Pageant. Jim Eilberg '53, is living in Norfolk, VA. He was happy to see many BHS '53 grads who were also his Harvard '57 classmates at the 40th reunion in June 1997-Harold Goldfarb, Jim Meyer, Mark Michelson, Ed Rolde, Ron Weintraub and Herb Wyman. Where were the others? Ellen (Gordon) Zimet '53, is alive and well and living in California. Steffi (Lewin) Shapiro '54, is living in Watertown, MA. She has three children and five grandchildren. She has traveled to Europe and India. Since 1983, she has been the founder and director of the Well Street Station in Watertown, MA, a small holistic health center. She conducts programs in stress management, wellness, yoga and yoga therapy to senior centers, retirement communities and adult-ed programs. Reina (Feinberg) Bauman '54, celebrated her 39th anniversary with her husband Gordon during a trip to Seattle. They live in Houston, TX. Blake Munson '55, reports that he is expecting his first grandchild. He lives in Weston, MA. Burton Kaplan '56, is celebrating 38 years of marriage to his college sweetheart and has a wonderful two-year-old granddaughter, Charlotte. Paul Roazen '54, professor emeritus of social and political science at York University in Toronto, has taken early retirement and moved back to Cambridgeport, MA. Joyce (Fortgang) Milmed '56, has retired after 36 years of teaching math at Miami-Dade Community College in Florida. She was Faculty Senate president for four years. Her husband Ron is busy building stadiums. They have two daughters and one son. Richard Hubert '56, reports that his son Doug was featured in Fortune magazine's small-business edition in June advising owners on how to sell their companies. Dick is a media consultant developing video programming for cable television, the Internet and over-the-air television. Dana Jewell '56, sadly reports that Bill Johnson '56, passed away in April of 1997. He also reports that this April, David "Monty" Wells '56, also passed away. On a happier note, Dana and his wife have been retired since 1993 and love it! Robert Shurdut '56, will be conducting the audit on the new school construction for all schools in Brookline. He is the grants manager for the Massachusetts Department of Education. Richard Fishman '56, has retired and is enjoying life in California and Nevada. Ruth (Curhan) Cope '56, is currently employed at Columbia University doing clinical research on the impact of cancer on families. She is the proud grandmother of Jesse, Spencer and Joshua. He sells reference books and children's books to public libraries. Bob Stoia '58, is active and well in Cupertino, CA. He retired in June of 1997 after 33 years of teaching junior high school. They are the children of Sandy and Michael Spector. One of their sons is in the Peace Corps and their youngest son is in California. Frank Goldschmidt '59, recently was elected to the Brandeis University Athletic Hall of Fame. He participated in track and field. Dolores (Glasser) Orkin '59 celebrated her 35th anniversary in June. Clare (Varnum) Lewis '50 says that retirement is great! This year she traveled through 13 states and two Canadian Provinces, to the Canadian Rockies. She travels with a tour group by bus-the AAA Calgary Stampede. Mary "Midge" (Allen) Berman '50 has come home to Massachusetts after 32 years in Westport, CT. She is living on Cape Cod and spending her time renewing old friendships. Ann (Christensen) Hyde '50 was married for 28 years. She has been a widow since 1988. She has one son, Steven. Ann is still working and lives on the South Shore. Shirley (Small) Osepchuk '51 reports that she has just retired and is traveling the world. Gerry Flick '51 was named in Who's Who in American Medicine for the second year in a row. Gerry also became board certified in Stress Trauma and Medical Psychology. Connie (Thanas) Abele '51 has been living in San Jose, CA with her husband of 38 years, Guido. They have three daughters, Heidi, Lisa and Corrine. Connie and Guido also have two grandchildren. She has been working for General Electric for 13 years as a project integrator. She and her husband enjoy golfing and gardening. Dr. D. Reid Wiseman '51 is a professor in the Biology Department at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. He plans to return to Boston for the marathon in 2001, the 50th anniversary of his run while a senior at BHS. His running mate back then was Michael Dukakis '51! Patricia (Murray) Rose '51, and her husband, Al retired in 1996. They have five children and 5.5 grandchildren. They live in Sherborn, MA and summer in Limerick, Maine. Gloria (Schneider) Kummins '52 has been the editor of Hadassah's monthly newsletter for the past 15 years. She asks, "Anyone remember the bulletin I worked on in 1947 at Lawrence School? I have copies!" Lawrence Gray '52 is living in Framingham, MA. He is looking forward to the 50th reunion in 2002! Joel Flashman '53 has retired after 37 years of teaching French. He taught for 10 years at the Rivers School and 24 years at St. Thomas Choir School in NYC. He is now living in Southern California. Dr. Harold Goldfarb '53 is still practicing ophthalmology, although he admits that the "politics" of managed care have taken away most of the enjoyment of practicing medicine. His oldest two sons have given him three new granddaughter. Between he and his wife, Sandra they have 10 grandchildrens! Richard Simons '54 is living in Canton, MA. He is director of the Greater Boston YMCA, the chairman of the building renovations committee for the town of Canton and a trustee of the Massachusetts Hospital School for disabled children. Dr. Manuel Lipson '54 is still the president of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He lives in Weston, MA. Bill Bluestein '54 is living in Natick, MA and is in the promotion and advertising business with his wife and four grandchildren. Jerry Schneider '55, and his wife Linda have moved to Seattle after 40 years in California. They report that they love the cold weather. Ann (Davis) Segura '55 lived in Albany for 30 years. She recently moved to Wolfeboro, NH. She is retired and volunteers for a hospital. She and her husband Manuel have a son, a daughter, and one grandchild. Bruce Segal '56 is still "judging" federal administration law cases in Baltimore. His wife Judy (Weinstein) Segal '57 is still working with the U.S. Department of Education as a research psychologist. Their daughter Alison graduated from Amherst College in 1997. He still has relatives in New England and he enjoyed watching Brookline beat Newton last year on Thanksgiving. George Meany '56 became a grandfather for the first time in January! He is living in Houston, TX. Richard Fishman '56 reports that he is trying to assist Gerry (Garfinkle) Hornreich's ('also '56) daughter, Deborah, with a citizenship problem. Lois Swartz '56 reports that she had the chance to visit BHS just before construction! Rosemary (Jewell) Barr '57 is living in Texas. She attended the class of '57 40th reunion and says it was great! Kenneth Kadis '57 and his wife Elayne are expert tournament bridge players. They recently returned from vacations in Aruba and Italy where they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. Eleanor (Sclare) Mazur, '51, is living in Texas and just celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary. She has three daughters and one grandson. Myrna (Britt) Bernard, '53, is working as a physical therapist at Brookline Visiting Nurse Service. Glenda (Stone) Sakala, '53, is looking forward to retirement after 33 years in the classroom. John David Hughes, '54, lives in Exeter, N.H. has bred and shown terriers for the past 25 years and this year hopes to get his judges license. Edward Albert, '54, has retired from teaching and moved to Keene, N.H. Gayle (Greene) Watkins, '54, is currently the assistant to the director for Christian spirituality at The General Theological Seminary. Roberta "Robin" Richmond, '56, is the director of ESL for the Norwood Public Schools. Sandra (Hewitt) Mooney, '56, and her husband, Jim, report that all is well. Their son, David, 33, is a CPA and doing very well. Rochelle Zide-Booth, '56, is still the director of the New Zealand School of Dance. She has three children, 2.5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Gerald Field, '56, reports that youngest son, Gabe, is having his Bar Mitzvah in September 1997. Charles W. Nordstrom, '57, recently retired from Delta Airlines after 28 years in technical operations. Eve Rose Altman, '57, and her husband Rocky have lived in Las Vegas for 15 years. He and his wife, Leslie, a speech-language teacher, have two children. Martin Aronson, '57, and his wife, Geila Shore Aronson, '60, have two daughters-one attending University of Rochester and one attending University of Massachusetts. Bob Carr, '58, is currently living in Minnesota, waging a long but successful struggle with congestive heart disease. Marshall Glasser, '58, and his wife, Denise, recently returned from a vacation in South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Carol is a bath and kitchen designer and Elliot is retired. Their son Allan is married with two children and their daughter Shelley is the manager of a large dental office. Dr. Susan (Gordon) Weinberger, '58, reports that her husband, Norman, a pediatrician, recently had his book, "You Just Don't Duct Tape a Baby", published by Warner Books. Son Gordon is owner of Gordon's Top of the Tree Baking Co. Ruth Nemzoff, '58, is teaching government and gender studies at Bentley College. She reports that her four children and husband of 33 years are all well. Joan (Moskovitz) Druckman, '58, and her husband Richard have lived in Princeton Junction, N.J. for 26 years. They have three sons and two grandchildren. Joan teaches math privately and coaches for SATs. Dolores (Glasser) Orkin, '59, has been married for more than 33 years to her husband Don who is an attorney. She is a substitute teacher. Her son Jeffrey is an orthodox rabbi, daughter Lisa is an occupational therapist and daughter Laura is a recruiter.
